a brief of the opening

At 7pm on 10/06/06 we opened out first project exhibition with Huy Nguyen's "Sharpie Sity". Despite our somewhat obscure and very residential location, we had a steady flow of people throughout the night. There was an overall positive response to the work. Huy's work includes a massive black marker drawing that roams all the walls of the space. A series of 9 paintings hangs in a grid and portrays 'Lego' people in various gestures, some of which are a spray-painting astronaut, a grenade wielding woman and a boozing AC/DC dude. Irreverence is alive in style and content throughout Huy's work. LumpWEST wishes to thank all those who came to support Huy and the Project Space on our maiden voyage. Stay posted for info about the upcoming show "Good and Thuggy", on its way here after debuting at Lump(east) it has a super-star roster and the work shines brighter than the gold plated, diamond encrusted grill on my teeth.
